Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB) is a heart condition that affects almost 1 million people in the UK. It’s the most common form of an irregular heartbeat and a leading cause of stroke. It occurs when disorganised signals are present in the hearts 2 upper chambers causing them to contract quickly and irregularly. The Microlife blood pressure monitor measures a person’s blood pressure by taking 3 readings and displaying an average blood pressure reading which can be stored in the memory of the device. The monitor also checks the heart rate and can identify if the person has AFIB and will display this on the monitor with the blood pressure reading.
